Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

A psychodynamic approach to lasting psychological change in Berlin and online.

Therapy Begins With Curiosity

Most of us arrive in therapy wanting relief. We want the anxiety to disappear, the relationship to improve, the depression to lift. Those hopes matter. But beneath the symptoms there is often another question waiting to be asked. Why does this keep happening?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy begins with that deeper question. Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, it helps us understand how past experiences, relationships and unconscious ways of relating continue to shape the present.

Understanding the Pattern Beneath the Symptoms

Psychodynamic psychotherapy asks questions such as:

Why do I keep repeating the same relationship patterns?

Why do I react so strongly in certain situations?

Why do I keep putting other people’s needs before my own?

Why do I struggle to know what I really feel?

Why do I feel stuck even when life looks fine from the outside?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy looks beyond symptoms to understand the emotional patterns shaping your life. Rather than asking only “How can I feel better?”, it also asks “Why has this pattern developed, and why does it keep returning?”

Symptoms often make sense in the context of your history. Anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck can all be understood as adaptations that once served a purpose. Therapy offers the space to understand these patterns, creating the possibility for more lasting change.

Some Areas We Might Explore Together

Every person’s story is unique. Rather than following a fixed programme, psychodynamic psychotherapy pays attention to the patterns that emerge over time. As these patterns become clearer, new possibilities for lasting psychological change can begin to emerge.

What It’s Like to Work Together

Every therapeutic relationship is unique. My role is not to tell you who to become, but to offer a thoughtful, consistent space in which you can begin to understand yourself more fully.

Over time, that understanding can offer something beyond insight: greater freedom to respond to life differently.

My work is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, informed by attachment theory, and shaped by the psychoanalytic tradition. Together, we look beyond symptoms to understand the patterns that have developed over time, creating space for lasting psychological change.

How Long Does Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Last?

Psychodynamic psychotherapy does not follow a fixed number of sessions. Some people come for a focused period of work around a particular difficulty, while others find that longer-term therapy allows them to explore more deeply rooted patterns over time.

We can think together about what feels appropriate for you, and review the work as it develops.
